Happy Halloween

We went over to Aunt Kerri's and Uncle Peter's to trick-or-treat. Their neighborhood is full of children and the whole place seemed awake, alive, and excited for the holiday. In addition to cute kids in fun costumes, most of the adults were decked out in elaborate costumes, too! By the middle of the night, Julia's bag was so full of candy she could barely carry it. (We went back to the house to drop off a load and went out again for more candy. However, after two houses she was so tired that she gave up on the candy collection.) It was fun to watch her knock on doors and to hear her say "TRICK-OR-TREAT!!" and "Thank you". Before we left Grammie's and Grampie's, she was so excited she could hardly stand it!

After the trick-or-treating, Daddy took Julia to a haunted house. (One of the neighbors has a haunted house in their garage every year.) Daddy said it consisted of four turns that got progressively more scary for little Julia... By the last turn she was about to cry and ready to GET OUT!! Although it was scary for her at the time, now it's all she talks about! She says "You just have to be brave" and "I went in a haunted house...!" She seems so excited and proud of herself. It's cute.

Our little ballerina. She picked this costume out herself at a dance studio. She's wanted to be a ballerina for awhile. I had to put an undershirt on her - against her will! It was just too cool to go sleeveless and backless.

Out on the trail.

Cousin Nathan (Yoda) and Aunt Kerri. The family had a Star Wars theme...! Caleb was Anakin, Jakey was C3PO (but the poor little guy was too sick to join us for trick-or-treating), Nathan was Yoda, and Uncle Peter was Darth Vader!!!

Home Progress - Walls, Cabinets! & oops

Sheet rock = walls! (9/22):

Family room downstairs.

Kitchen

Upstairs landing areas

Cabinets are in! (10/6):

Kitchen

Upstairs built-in desk

Do you see a bathtub?! I do!

Construction Mishaps (10/6):

This side of the fireplace wasn't measured right for the mantel to fit. They're having to tear out sheetrock and fix the walls to get it right.

This is the other side of the fireplace. This is what it's supposed to look like...

And, a pet-peeve of James'... They dug a trench in the backyard to place the main electricity line to the house. Isn't that what the 8 ft easements (at the fence-line) are supposed to be for? Is this against code?

Things are moving along! (Not fast enough for me, but they are moving.) Last I heard, the house should be done Nov. 19th. Then, we'll have to wait 3-5 additional days for closing... Maybe, maybe, maybe we'll be in on Thanksgiving weekend! Time will tell. :)
